e-XpertAccessibility Statement
Introduction
This site has been developed along W3C guidelines to make the content accessible to as many people as possible.
Although the graphic style and layout of the site has been optimized for modern browsers the content should be accessible to any device capable of connecting to the internet.
Features
The following accessibility features have been included to help different users access the site.
Font Sizes
The font sizes can be enlarged by using the controls on your web browser. The layout has been designed to handle font enlargements of up to three times the default size, but on non-Internet Explorer browsers you can enlarge the fonts more if you need to.
Although the way to increase and decrease font styles is different from browser to browser the most common browsers work as follows:
- In Internet Explorer 6 and 7 click the View menu at the top of IE and select Text Size.
- In Internet Explorer 6 you can also hold down the Control (ctrl) key and spin the mouse wheel to scale the text size up and down.
- In Firefox and safari click on the View menu and select Text Size.
You can also hold down the Ctrl key and use the + and - keys to change the font size.
Access Keys
The following keys have been assigned to each main page of the website. By pressing the alt key and the number listed below you will be taken directly to the relevant page. In Internet Explorer you need to press the alt key and the number simultaneously and then press enter. In most other browsers you can just press the alt key and the number for the desired page.
The acess keys are as follows:

Images
All images have alt tags which feed text descriptions of the image to screen readers and text only browsers.
Links
We have endeavored to makes all links as descriptive as possible and where an image is used for a link, there is always an alt tag describing the link.
Site Structure
The site is created using valid XHTML/CSS wherever possible and structured in such a way that reflects the content of page (relevant headings, lists etc) to make the content accessible to users using accessibility software and unexpected browsing devices.

Technical Details
The site is written in XHTML and uses CSS for its graphic styles. All XHTML was valid by W3C standards at the time of writing this statement.
It was developed following the principles of the W3C consortium and New Zealand e-government guidelines. It was built and is maintained in our MoST content management system.
